Alexander and Diogenes - Pt. 1

There is actual history behind this, I swear.

See, before Alex set out on his plot to CONQUER THE WORLD, he went to go see the thinker, Diogenes the Cynic. Diogenes was an old man who lived like a dog (where the word "cynic" comes from) by staying put, never bathing, and letting people bring him food. All he did was think. Also, he lived in a jar.

No, I'm not kidding.

So Alex, being about 18 or so, and very impressionable, came to talk to Diogenes. He was totally blown away by the man's intelligence, a bit of a fangirl, and swore that when he was done conquering the world, he would come back and live Just~ Like~ Diogenes~

It kind of reminds me of a groupie/hipster - hipster being, he really wanted to embrace the anti-society, but juuuust couldn't make himself do it.

Nevertheless, the story goes that Alex, enamoured, offers to do whatever Diogenes wants. After a bit of silence, Diogenes says "Yes, there is something that you can do for me."

Alex, excited, asks "what?".

Diogenes answers, very seriously, "Step out of my sunlight".



And that's the story, as I know it.
